Song Lyrics

Love spreads her arms, waits there for the nails
I forgive you, boy, i will prevail
Too much to take, come cross to bear
I’m hiding in the trees with a picnic, she’s over there, yeah

Yeah,yeah,yeah
Yeah,yeah,yeah

She didn’t scream, she didn’t make a sound
I forgive you boy, but don’t leave town
Cold black skin, naked in the rain
Hammer flash in the lightning, they’re hurting her again

Let me put you in the picture, let me show you what i mean
The messiah is my sister, ain’t no king man, she’s my queen

I have a dream, i’ve seen the light

Don’t put it out, say she’s alright, yeah, she’s my sister

She didn’t scream, she didn’t make a sound

I forgive you boy, but don’t leave town
Cold black skin, naked in the rain

Hammer flash in the lightning, they’re hurting her again
Oh, oh, ooh
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Let me put you in the picture, let me show you what i mean
The messiah is my sister, ain’t no king man, she’s my queen

I have a dream, i’ve seen the light

Don’t put it out, say she’s alright, yeah, she’s my sister

Love Spreads is a song with lyrics that connote a massive controversial shift in attitudes towards Jesus Christ's life, suggesting that he was a she and wasn't caucasian but black, the controversy behind this is something exciting to work with and express in a video. The lyrics also detail quite a sad and distressing story of the way this protagonist is treated, the constant use of natural imagery 'lightening' and 'naked in the rain' helps enhance the pureness and realism of the song, taking such a surreal concept as a female/black Jesus but placing in quite a real, cold and natural setting. There is a also a certain critique of Christian values in this song, for example 'i forgive you boy, but don't leave town' showing how someone says they forgive but may not forget, quite a negative way of looking at things but also quite a clever play on a traditional religious value, in the long run this critique helps darkness increase and will be very useful in creating James' and mine music video for 'Love Spreads'.

Scratching our Brains

Now that me and James have a song we have motivation. We have now began sitting down after Christmas and brinign forward different ideas we have seen or thought of ourselfs. Most of these ideas are from already existing music videos and some are from our own creativity. Since we have agreed on me creating the storyboard its important we agree on certain shots that we want to include in the music video.

The Sweater Song (Undone)-Weezer

This music video is one that definitely caught my attention. James pointed it out to me that the entire video is shot using only one shot, which definitely intrigues me but the pace and beat of our chosen song would leave James and I and most likely the audience feeling as though its lacking something when watching it. The main thing that is noticeabe in this video is the fact all the images are moving in slow motion whilst the track continues to move at a normal speed, creating a sense of disorientation in the audience's view which matches the slow and disorientating nature of the song, this technique is very interesting and is definitely something that James and I could use in our music video, aas some parts of our chosen song contain fast paced beats whilst some for example the guitar solo and piano break are very slow and wavy and the addition of slow motion to the music video at these certain parts would have a good effect on the music video and promote the song well.
